Harry Reid, The Lonesome Loser

"Have your heard about the Lonesome Loser? He's a loser but he still keeps on trying."
~from "Lonesome Loser" by Little River Band

In one of the most disgusting displays of political abuse, Harry Reid took to the Senate Floor Friday and accused GOP Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney of 10 years of tax cheating.

"The word is out," said Senator Reid as he referred to his own statement - the day before - for credibility. The story, according to him, is that an anonymous source working at Bain Capital phoned him and said that Romney hadn't paid taxes for 10 years. Reid ended his tirade by saying that he didn't know if the information was true; this makes the statement twice as vindictive.

If your head is reeling from this level of deceptive politics, it may be from the lack of response in the media. Or the lack of a public outcry from Democrats or the Obama Administration. Apparently, it's within the bounds of integrity to make a false claim without any proof.

Many people are wondering how Senator Reid can make statements of this slanderous magnitude without repercussions. The truth is, because of his governmental position, Reid (and subsequently all members of Congress) are protected through the Constitution to exert this level of free speech. It was put in place to make certain they are not kept from strong debate or political imprisonment.

This, however, crosses the line. Especially, the line of innocence. The Justice System is our easiest test of logic: Romney is innocent until proven guilty. Currently, the Democrats believe in the reverse; they think Romney has to prove himself first.

The Bottom Line: This is nothing more than a distraction. The worst part is that the liberals will descend this low in the election. A few weeks earlier they even suggested Romney was a felon. The truth is President Obama has failed the country; his promise to half the deficit, provide the most transparent government in history, and keep our unemployment under 8% can only be ignored if he and his constituents make outrageous statements.
